The questioner: This, my Shaykh, is a hadith that says here: from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghunmah. Ibn Ghunm?

The Shaykh: Ghunm.

The questioner: Ghunm?

The Shaykh: Yes, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghunm.

The questioner: Ah, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghunm, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever says at the end of every Fajr prayer, while his feet are still folded, before speaking: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him is the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things, (Lā ilāha illallāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, yuḥyī wa yumītu, wa huwa `alā kulli shay’in qadīr)’ ten times, then
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3474Hasan (Darussalam)
such and such is the hadith, he says: what is the meaning of:
and folds his legs ويثني رجليه
? And is there evidence for it?

The Shaykh: What is it saying here? How did it bring the wording of the hadith?

The questioner: It says:
If anyone says ten times before he departs and turns away his feet مَن قال قبل أن ينصرف ويثني رجليه
Mishkat al-Masabih 975, 976
.

The Shaykh: Meaning before he folds his legs, how is he sitting? Either he is sitting in the Fajr prayer in the style of iftirash, or he is sitting in the Maghrib prayer in the style of tawarruk, so when he wants to change his sitting position, that is the meaning of before he folds his legs.

The questioner: And he does not move until he completes the ten.

Another questioner: I don't know, for example, but I stand up and lean myself against the wall, is that not permissible? I am sitting here and I prayed and finished.

The Shaykh: Don't mess with your situation, Abu 'Aziz, understood!

Another questioner: Sit on the other side... on the ground.

The Shaykh: What did you do on the other side?

Another questioner: It is the same thing.

The Shaykh: How is it the same thing?

Another questioner: I stood up from here.

The Shaykh: I understood, my dear, answer my question; what did you do on the other side?

Another questioner: The same tasbih, meaning.

The Shaykh: The same tasbih, another person stood up from there where he was not praying as you depicted earlier, and sat on that side and did nothing, is there anything on him? Is it permissible or not permissible?

Another questioner: Forbidden, this action did he do it or not...

The Shaykh: Ha, and this is the answer to your question!

Another questioner: If you left him sitting and did it, if it is even better.

The questioner: Are the ten acceptable even if he moved?

The Shaykh : And where?

The questioner: And I am in this prayer.

The Shaykh: ... acceptable in this manner coming in the hadith or as a normal thought that has no...

The questioner: No, ... in the hadith it has this virtue.

The Shaykh: A virtue that has conditions.

The questioner: Related to the hardship.

The Shaykh: Meaning you now want to come from your father's side? No, you want to win her, he does not sit for a while in that prayer between reading ten takbirs? No, "whoever proposes to the beauty pays her mahr," would he? Or why did you go there to Syria and propose to the beauty without paying the mahr?

The questioner: Okay; my Shaykh, is there no difference between an imam and a ma'mum?

The Shaykh: There is no difference.

Another questioner: Some imams turn their face to the ma'mums, and they recite the same tasbihs these; meaning his situation changed, the same story!
