The Shaykh : The questioner says, after the praise, the basmalah, and the praise of Allah, Lord of the worlds, and the prayer and peace upon the best of Allah’s creation, all of them: It is reported in a hadith from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss some of his wives and then pray without performing wudu.” This is a hadith. It is also reported from Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he used to say: “A man’s kissing his wife and touching her with his hand is a form of physical contact, so whoever kisses his wife or touches her with his hand must perform wudu.” It is also reported that two men performed tayammum and prayed, then found water within the time, so one of them performed wudu and repeated the prayer while there was still time, but the other did not repeat it. They asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to the one who did not repeat it:
You followed the Sunnah and your prayer is acceptable. أصبت السنة ، وأجزأتك صلاتك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 433Hasan (Darussalam)
, and he said to the other:
And you will have something like the reward of two prayers. أما أنت ؛ فلك مثل سهم جمع
Sunan an-Nasa'i 433Hasan (Darussalam)
. There is an error here, of course, and I will point it out, if Allah wills. The questioner says: And it is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
None should offer the 'Asr prayer but at Bani Quraiza. لا يصلِّينَّ أحدكم العصر إلا في بني قريظة
Sahih al-Bukhari 946
, so a group of them prayed, and a group delayed the prayer, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not rebuke anyone.
First: What is the authenticity of these hadiths?
Second: If there is an abrogated text in them, what is the abrogating text? And what is its evidence?
Third: If the authenticity of these hadiths is established, does the truth become multiple?
And fourth: If they are authentic and there is no abrogated text in them, what is the wisdom? And how should one act upon them?
Our final plea is that all praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
So it seems that our lesson tonight must be answering these questions, discussing what is in them, and clarifying the correct position among them. This is what some of the brothers seem to want.
