The Shaykh : We are still discussing the hadith: Sahih Muslim 2947a.
We spoke about the three preceding characteristics: the rising of the sun from the west, the smoke, and the Dajjal. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:. The beast of the earth is the one whose mention came in the Noble Qur'an: [An-Naml 27:82]. Regarding this beast, nothing has come in the authentic Sunnah that is more than what is contained in this hadith along with the mentioned verse. The common point is that it is a sign of the Hour. As for what is mentioned in some books that collect whatever is said in hadith, whether authentic or not, one should not rely on any of that. For example, here in a modern commentary on al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, strange descriptions are mentioned based on weak hadiths. For instance, it says: it has four legs, and fuzz
, and feathers, and two wings, and it is said: it has the head of a bull, and so on. None of these descriptions is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) except what I hinted at earlier, that it is among the signs of the Hour. For example, what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is:Sahih Muslim 158. Also, this hadith does not say more than that it is among the major signs of the Hour.
In another hadith, the rising of the sun and the beast are mentioned, and it contains this benefit. He (peace be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4310Sahih (Al-Albani). If the sun rises from the west before the emergence of the beast, then the emergence of the beast will follow it, or vice versa; if the beast emerges before the sun rises, then the sun will rise from the west after it. This is all that can be said about the beast of the earth, and anything else is mere conjecture and speculation that does not benefit the truth in any way.
Hasten to do good deeds before six things happen: the rising of the sun from the west, the smoke, the Dajjal, the beast and (the death) of one of you or the general turmoil.
بادروا بالأعمال ستًّا : طلوع الشمس من مغربها ، أو الدخان ، أو الدجال ، أو الدابة ، أو خاصَّة أحدكم أو أمر العامةWe spoke about the three preceding characteristics: the rising of the sun from the west, the smoke, and the Dajjal. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
or the beast
أو الدابةAnd when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith].
وَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَابَّةً مِنَ الْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ, and feathers, and two wings, and it is said: it has the head of a bull, and so on. None of these descriptions is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) except what I hinted at earlier, that it is among the signs of the Hour. For example, what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is:
When three things appear faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from his faith: the rising of the sun in its place of setting, the Dajjal, and the beast of the earth.
ثلاث إذا خَرَجْنَ لا ينفع نفسًا إيمانُها لم تكن آمنت من قبل ، أو كسبت في إيمانها خيرًا : طلوع الشمس من مغربها ، والدخان ، ودابة الأرضIn another hadith, the rising of the sun and the beast are mentioned, and it contains this benefit. He (peace be upon him) said:
Whichever of them comes first will soon be followed by the other.
فأيَّتهما كانت قبل صاحبتها فالأخرى على إثرها قريبًا
