The Shaykh : The second hadith, which is also authentic. He said: And from 'Uthbah ibn 'Abd al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for clothing, so he clothed me with two *khaishatayn*. I have indeed seen myself while I was clothing my companions." It was narrated by Abu Dawud from the narration of Isma'il ibn 'Iyash.
*Al-khaishah*: with the *kha* open (fathah) and the *mim* with a sukun, followed by a *sin* with a dot. This is a correct and known term. However, as we are reading the book, *al-khaishah* is a garment made from a type of flax that is spun thickly and woven thinly.
Here is a new picture this noble Companion, 'Uthbah ibn 'Abd, presents to us: how they rejoiced with the least clothing available to one of them. This noble Companion says: "I asked the Messenger of Allah for clothing." He did not find any clothing to wear, so he asked him for some. What did the Messenger (peace be upon him) give him? Two *khaishatayn*. And with these two *khaishatayn*, he saw that his condition was better than that of others. He said: "I have indeed seen myself while I was clothing my companions"; meaning, I was the best of them and the most clothed.
