How to respond to those who do not consider the first adhan on Friday obligatory
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! We said: The sunnah of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the first adhan on Friday is a well-established and authentic sunnah, and this is correct. However, some of our brothers in Sudan raise a doubt with us, saying: That 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) performed this sunnah in the marketplace, so whoever wants to follow the sunnah of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) should do it in the marketplace, but one should not give two adhan calls in the same mosque. How do we respond to them? May Allah reward you with good.
We respond to them by saying that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) placed it in the marketplace because there were no loudspeakers at that time. If the adhan had been given in the mosque or near the mosque, the people of the marketplace would not have heard it. But now, praise be to Allah, loudspeakers are available. Furthermore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had two mu'adhdhins in one mosque, Bilal and Ibn Umm Maktum, who gave the adhan in the same place.
