The Ruling on the First and Second Adhan for Jumu'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A listener who indicated his name by the letters (M. J) asks and says: Does Jumu'ah have one adhan or two? And is there a sunnah prayer before Jumu'ah between them?
Answer: Jumu'ah has one adhan; this is the original practice, and this is what is expected when the khatib enters, which was the reality during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the khatib would enter, Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) would call the adhan. Then 'Umar added a second adhan, which is recommended, to alert people that the day is Jumu'ah, before the first adhan. That is, before the aforementioned adhan that is called when the khatib enters, it is called half an hour or so, or an hour, before the time; so that people know it is Jumu'ah, and so that they prepare to come. And the Salaf followed this practice, emulating 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).during the time of 'Umar, and the time of 'Ali, and the time of the Companions after 'Umar. Then the righteous Salaf followed this practice. So this is prescribed, being from the practice of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (may Allah be pleased with them). And the Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
You must therefore follow my sunna and that of the rightly guided Caliphsعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي
Mishkat al-Masabih 165Sahīh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
And it is well known that 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) are all among the Rightly Guided Caliphs.
So the sunnah is to have a first adhan for Jumu'ah for the purpose of alerting, as 'Umar and those after him (may Allah be pleased with them) did . As for the first adhan when the khatib enters, that is what existed in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that is what is expected. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
