The Possession of a Human by a Jinn, the Ruling on Ruqyah, and Taking a Fee for It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Due to the current spread of jinn possessing humans, and some people devoting themselves to ruqyah and taking a reward for it, what is your view on this? They cite the hadith of the group who recited al-Fatihah over a man?
As for taking a fee for ruqyah for a patient, there is nothing wrong with it.The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (The most deserving of a fee is the Book of Allah), and this reciter is like a healer, unlike the one who takes a fee for mere recitation, such as a man who recites to worship Allah through recitation and takes a fee for this; this is forbidden. However, if a man recites for another to benefit from it, or teaches another the Qur'an, there is nothing wrong with taking a fee. As for the claim that they recite to the jinn and that the jinn address them and the like, no, this requires proof. If it is established, it is not far-fetched that the jinn address a human and say that they are Muslims or that they are disbelievers; because some of them—according to what we have heard from the brothers who recite—say that he is a Muslim but he does not want to leave this human because he loves him. Sometimes he explicitly states that he is a disbeliever, a Jew, a Christian, a Buddhist, or the like, but he does not want to leave.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned about his Shaykh, Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him): that a man possessed by a jinn was brought to him, so the Shaykh recited over him, but the jinn did not leave. So he struck him severely, and the jinn addressed him, and it was a woman, and she said: I love him,He said: but he does not love you,So she said to him: I want to perform Hajj with him,So he said: but he does not want to perform Hajj with you. So he recited over her and struck the man on his neck severely, until the hand of the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah became tired and weary. Then she said: Come out as a karamah for the Shaykh,So the Shaykh said: Do not come out as a karamah for me, come out in obedience to Allah and His Messenger. So she came out, and the man regained consciousness and was amazed, what brought me to the presence of the Shaykh,Meaning: Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah,Meaning: what brought him? And he did not feel the striking; because the striking appears to be on the possessed person, but in reality it is on the one who possessed him.

The questioner: But is taking the fee conditional on Allah the Exalted curing him?The Shaykh: Yes, it is permissible for the patient or the afflicted person to stipulate with the reciter that if he is cured of it, he will have such and such, otherwise he has nothing.
