The Sunnah in Making Up the Night Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: A man missed the night prayer and did not wake up until the daytime. Should he pray it aloud or quietly?
If a person misses the night prayer and makes it up during the day, he makes it up aloud. If he misses the daytime prayer and makes it up at night, he makes it up quietly. The evidence for this is the verbal and practical Sunnah.

As for the verbal Sunnah: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it”. The pronoun refers to the forgotten prayer or the one he slept through. When we pray it, we pray it as it was. So if a person sleeps through the Fajr prayer, for example, and does not wake up until after the sun has risen, we say: If you are in a congregation, recite aloud.

As for the practical Sunnah: In the hadith about the Companions sleeping with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) through the Fajr prayer, they were traveling and the sun did not wake them up, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to move from that place,And he said: saying, “This is the place where the Shaytan caught us. Then they moved down, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in prayer as he used to pray every day”. This indicates that he recited aloud,So the rule now is: meaning that if one makes up a night prayer during the day, he recites aloud, and if he makes up a daytime prayer at night, he recites quietly; because “making up a prayer mirrors its performance”.
