Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Decree)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Qadr: 1] The pronoun here refers to Allah (Mighty and Majestic),And the letter ha in His saying: (We sent it down) refers to the Qur'an,And Allah the Exalted referred to Himself with greatness: without saying: I sent it down; because He is the Exalted, the Great, and there is nothing greater than Him, and Allah the Exalted sometimes refers to Himself using the form of greatness,Like this noble verse: [Al-Qadr 97:1] ،And like His saying the Exalted: [Surat al-Hijr: 9] ,And like His saying the Exalted: [Surat Ya-Sin: 12] .
And sometimes He refers to Himself with the form of the One, like: [Surat Ta-Ha: 14] And this is because He is One and Great; considering the attribute, the pronoun of greatness is used, and considering the oneness, the pronoun of the One is used,And the pronoun in His saying: I mean the pronoun of the object, which is the letter ha, and it refers to the Qur'an, even though it was not mentioned previously, because this is a known matter, and no one can doubt that the intended meaning is the sending down of the Noble Qur'an.
Allah the Exalted sent it down on the Night of Decree,What is the meaning of: What is the meaning of its being sent down on the Night of Decree? The correct is that its meaning is: We began sending it down on the Night of Decree, and the Night of Decree is in Ramadan; there is no doubt about this,And the evidence for that is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Surat al-Baqarah: 185] So if you combine this verse, which I mean: [Al-Baqarah 2:185] with this verse which we are discussing, it becomes clear to you that the Night of Decree is in Ramadan, and by this we know that what is popular among the common people, that the Night of Decree is the middle night of the month of Sha'ban, has no basis and no truth, for the Night of Decree is in Ramadan, and the middle night of Sha'ban, like the middle night of Rajab, Jumada, Rabi', Safar, Muharram, and the other months, is not distinguished by anything.
Even what has been reported regarding the virtue of standing in prayer on that night, those are weak hadiths that do not constitute a proof, and likewise what has been reported regarding specifying the day, which is the middle day of Sha'ban, for fasting, those are weak hadiths that do not constitute a proof, but some scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) are lenient in mentioning weak hadiths regarding virtues, the virtues of deeds or months or places, and this is not something that should be done, because if you cite weak hadiths regarding the virtue of something, the listener will believe that it is true and attribute it to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and this is a great matter, so the important point is that the middle day of Sha'ban and the middle night of Sha'ban are not distinguished by anything over the other months, so the middle night is not distinguished by the virtue of standing in prayer, the middle night is not the Night of Decree, and the middle day is not distinguished by fasting.
Yes, the month of Sha'ban is established in the Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast a lot in it, so that he would not break his fast except for a little, and other than that, what is related to his fasting is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), except what is for the other months, such as the virtue of fasting three days of every month, and that they be on the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth, which are the white days.
and His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Qadr 97:1] What is the meaning of: (Decree) Is it honor, as it is said: so-and-so has great decree or great decree, meaning: he has great honor, or is the intended meaning of decree the determination; because what will happen in the year is determined in it, by the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Surat al-Dukhan: 3-4] meaning it is distinguished and clarified? Some scholars said this, and some scholars said this,And the correct view is: that it includes both meanings, so the Night of Decree is undoubtedly of great decree and great honor, and that what will happen in that year of life and death, sustenance, and other things is determined in it.
Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, We sent it down
Indeed, We sent it down
Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register.
And sometimes He refers to Himself with the form of the One, like:
Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
We sent it down
Allah the Exalted sent it down on the Night of Decree,What is the meaning of: What is the meaning of its being sent down on the Night of Decree? The correct is that its meaning is: We began sending it down on the Night of Decree, and the Night of Decree is in Ramadan; there is no doubt about this,And the evidence for that is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an
