The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: " Chapter on the virtue of standing in prayer on the Night of Decree and identifying the most likely of its nights:
Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Qadr 97:1] to the end of the surah.
And Allah the Exalted said:[Ad-Dukhan 44:3].
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 2193Sahih (Darussalam) Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):Bulugh al-Maram 5:55 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 2017 Narrated by al-Bukhari.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:Riyad as-Salihin 1194 Narrated by Muslim.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 64:1283 Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, who said: "A good, authentic hadith" .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author -may Allah have mercy on him- dedicated this chapter in his book *Riyad al-Saliheen* to the Night of Decree: and the Night of Decree is named so for two reasons:
The first reason is that what will occur in the year of the deeds of the children of Adam and others is decreed in it, and the evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Ad-Dukhan 44:3-4] meaning: it is distinguished and clarified.
And the second reason is that this honor: meaning the Night of Decree, i.e., the night of honor, because its status is great, and indicating this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Qadr 97:1-3]: this night was singled out for the favor of this Ummah, this Ummah was singled out for its favor, so it was for them. And it is mentioned: that the lifespans of the Ummah were presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and he found them short, so he was given the Night of Decree and this night was made better than a thousand months. So if a person has twenty years: he has twenty thousand good deeds on the Night of Decree, and this is from the favor of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon this Ummah, and Allah the Exalted singled out this Ummah and its Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) with characteristics that were not for those before them, so praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
Then the author mentioned hadiths that came regarding it, and that it, i.e., the Night of Decree, is in Ramadan, and that it is in the last ten nights of it, and that it is more emphasized in the odd-numbered nights, and that it is more emphasized on the twenty-seventh night, but it moves within the ten nights, meaning it may be the twenty-first night this year, and the twenty-third night the next year, and the twenty-fifth or twenty-seventh or twenty-ninth or twenty-fourth or twenty-sixth or twenty-second night the third year, it moves, because it is not a specific night always, but the most likely it is the twenty-seventh night, then the odd-numbered nights, and the most likely of the last ten nights are the last seven of them,Bulugh al-Maram 5:55: and this may mean every year, or that it was only that year.
And in any case, it is in the last ten nights, and it does not occur in the middle ten or the first ten, but it is in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:

Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
Whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.
And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
Some of the companions of the Prophet were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the last seven nights of Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to them, “It seems that all of your dreams agree that (the Night of Qadr) is in the last seven nights, and whoever wants to seek that night should do so in the last seven nights (of Ramadan).
And from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would seclude himself in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and say: Seek the Night of Decree in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to, when the last ten nights of Ramadan entered, stay awake the whole night, wake up his family, strive hard, and tighten his waist sash.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to strive more in worship during Ramadan than he strove in any other time of the year; and he would devote himself more (in the worship of Allah) in the last ten nights of Ramadan than he strove in earlier part of the month.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
I said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you think if I knew which night is the Night of Decree, what should I say in it? He said: Say: O Allah, You are the Pardoner, You love pardon, so pardon me.
