The student: Ramadan...
The Shaykh : Yes, which night?
The student: The Night of Decree.
The Shaykh : Well done. The blessed night is the Night of Decree. The evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Qadr 97:1] Good. And Allah named it blessed because of the abundant good in it, until Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Al-Qadr 97:3] [Ad-Dukhan 44:3] "We" is a plural pronoun, and "We were" is also a plural, and "warners" is also a plural. Here, a person asks: Why was the plural used when He is One? We say: The plural was used for One for the sake of magnification, because the plural pronoun is for the many and for the One who is great and magnifies Himself. Whenever the plural pronoun is attributed to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, the intended meaning is magnification, because it is not possible that multiplicity is intended, as Allah the Exalted said: Warners means those who instill fear. So this Qur'an contains instilling fear and it contains glad tidings. It is a Qur'an that warns the disbelievers and gives glad tidings to the believers.
(2) By the clear Book, (3) Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night.
