Meeting of Souls

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
You said in a past lesson that the living may know the dead, and here Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says: “If you call them, they will not hear your call”?

Answer:
Answer: This is regarding the meeting of souls. When a person sleeps, the souls of the dead and the souls of those who are sleeping meet. Allah says: “It is Allah who takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that have not died during their sleep. Then He withholds those upon whom He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term.” The soul of the sleeper returns to its body and he wakes up, whereas the soul of the deceased is held by Allah and does not return. The mixing of the souls of the dead and the souls of the sleepers occurs in sleep. That is why one sees the deceased and speaks with him, and the deceased advises him about certain things; this is an observed phenomenon.
