Ruling on following a latecomer who stands to complete what he missed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I caught the last rak'ah of the 'Asr prayer, and after the imam finished the prayer, I stood to complete my prayer. Then a man entered the mosque and completed his prayer with me. What is the ruling?

Answer:
The correct view is that there is no harm in that. However, if the one making up the missed prayer is the imam and the one who entered is the follower, that is preferable. If the one who entered leads him, there is nothing wrong with that. If the one who entered stands to pray the second rak'ah, the latecomer sits and completes his prayer and says the closing salam. As for if the latecomer is the imam, he says the closing salam, then the one who enters stands and makes up what is due on him.
