The Shaykh : Therefore, we have previously stated that some fathers—may Allah guide us and them—possess great wealth and have a son who needs to get married. When asked to marry him off, the father tells him, "Marry yourself; only your own nail scratches your back. You are the one who must look after yourself and get married." In this situation, it is permissible for the son, if he is able to take some of his father's wealth, to take it and get married with it, because this is part of his maintenance.
