The Ruling on Parents Marrying Off Their Child

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Do the parents commit a sin if they do not give their son money to get married, on the grounds that he must complete his university studies, then work and earn money from his job to spend on his wife?

Answer:
If the parents are able to marry him off, it is obligatory for them to do so, and it is not permissible to delay this until he completes his studies; because he is exposed to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). The obligation on his parents is to chaste him and help him in good, if they are capable, or if one of them is. But if they are unable, there is no blame on them.
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghabun:16].
As for if his father is wealthy and able to marry him off, or his mother is likewise, then it is obligatory for them to marry him off and not delay it if he requests it. Rather, they must strive to do so, to protect him from what Allah has forbidden, and to strive for his safety. Just as it is obligatory for them to spend on him what satisfies his need and covers his 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), spending on him what keeps him away from the haram (forbidden) and causes him to lower his gaze and guard his private parts is more important than that. Yes, and Allah is the Helper.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, Allah is the Helper, may Allah reward you with good.
