The Ruling on Selling an Agricultural Certificate
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
I had an agricultural certificate that included the import of about fifty tons.So one came to me and said: I will give you one riyal per kilo.Meaning: He would buy the certificate for fifty thousand riyals, and the price of wheat at that time was two and a half riyals, so he gave me the sum of fifty thousand riyals in advance. After a while, I realized that it was forbidden, knowing that I had gotten married with this money. What is obligatory for me to do?The Shaykh: I see that it is obligatory for you to give this amount in charity. As for the marriage, the marriage is valid and there is no problem with it.
There is no sin on you, if Allah wills, regarding what has passed; because you were ignorant, but these dirhams that came to you came to you as forbidden: through lying, betraying the state, and I think you have wronged this partner of yours now and brought upon him what is forbidden for him.And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: (Help your brother, whether he is oppressive or oppressed) and it was mentioned that helping the oppressed is to prevent him from being wronged. If it is easy for you, then give in charity. If you are poor and you remain until Allah wills for you to depart from this world, then, if Allah wills, nothing is required of you; because this is a right due to Allah, and Allah the Exalted does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.
And if it had been in accordance with the agreement, and he is the one who offered it to you, are not the usurers in agreement? And those who deal in usury now, are they forced or do they choose? They choose. Therefore, you do not return it to him; give it in charity.
