Prohibition of dyeing the beard black
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! I have heard from some students of knowledge that dyeing the beard black is permissible, so what is your opinion?
I see that dyeing the beard black is forbidden,And although some scholars said: It is disliked, a disliked act that is not strictly prohibited,Perhaps some of them would say: It is contrary to what is best, but the correct view in my opinion is that it is forbidden; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded changing the gray hair and said: (Keep it away from black) and because it was reported in an authentic hadith: (Indeed, in the last of time, there will come people who dye their beards black like the black of a bird’s tail, or he said: like the black of a crow, and they will not enter Paradise) This is a severe warning that necessitates that dyeing it black is among the major sins. Then, there is an alternative to this, which is to dye it with a dye that is not pure black and not pure red, but rather a brownish color between black and red. By doing so, one is safe from falling into sin, and one achieves the changing of the gray hair that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded.
