The ruling on the blood that comes out of a woman before the formation of the four months and before the formation of the fetus
Your Eminence! A woman miscarried in the first month of her pregnancy. Does she pray, given that the blood coming out of her may last for fifteen or twenty days? I read a fatwa of yours in one of the books that says: that this blood which comes out before the completion of four months and before the completion of the fetus is considered corrupt blood, and that the woman prays during this time and has the right to combine prayers in this case. What is your opinion?
My opinion is what you read.Meaning: If a pregnant woman miscarries after one or two months, then this blood is corrupt blood. It does not prevent her from praying, fasting, or having intercourse with her husband. She may combine the prayers if it is difficult for her to perform wudu for each prayer. And the rule in this matter according to most scholars: If a woman miscarries a fetus, and the creation of a human being is evident in it, then the blood is post-natal bleeding.Meaning: If its head, hands, and feet are evident, then the blood is post-natal bleeding. Otherwise, it is not post-natal bleeding, but rather corrupt blood. The minimum time in which the creation of a human being can be evident is eighty days. The evidence for this is the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) narrated to us, and he is the truthful and veracious one, saying: "Indeed, one of you is gathered in the womb of his mother as a drop of fluid for forty days, then it becomes a clot for the same duration, then it becomes a lump of flesh for the same duration, then an angel is sent to him to breathe the soul into him" the hadith.
This lump of flesh, which Allah the Exalted mentioned in the Qur'an, is either formed or unformed. If it is before eighty days, the blood cannot be post-natal bleeding. Why? Because it has not yet become a lump of flesh; it is a clot. After eighty days, it becomes a lump of flesh. This lump of flesh may be formed or may not be formed, but if it reaches ninety days, it is generally formed.
