From the Fear of Allah: Eagerly Seeking the Guidance of Allah's Servants

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And from the fear of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, is that you strive with utmost effort for the guidance of Allah's servants: by spreading the correct knowledge taken from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
And that you make clear to them the path of the Companions and those who followed them with excellence.
And that you guide people to what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) guided them to,From his saying: (The excellence of a man's Islam is that he leaves what does not concern him),Meaning: what does not concern him.
So if you see a person striving toward Allah, Mighty and Majestic, occupied with what concerns him rather than what does not concern him, and having no concern except what brings him closer to Allah, then know that this is from the excellence of Islam.
And if you see a person concerned with matters that are not needed, and that do not concern him, and that most of his time is spent in gossip and excessive questioning, then know that this is from the deficiency of his Islam, and therefore (the Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade gossip and excessive questioning); because that wastes time.
And if a person is afflicted with this affliction, his time is wasted,So he would sit with this one and say: What happened? What did so-and-so say? And what did so-and-so say? Then to the second, and he says the same to him, then to the third, and the fourth, and so on, wasting his time and the time of others.
But a person should proceed with what concerns him and is of importance to him, and there is no harm in asking if the need arises to ask about what happened and what is occurring in society, in order to cure it and remove the disease, not in order to gloat over others, or to make it a cause for discord and conflict, as is found among some people now; where some people have a good intention, and are not accused of [bad intent]; but he is a poor soul afflicted with this disease, which is that he has no concern except gossip, and what so-and-so said? And what so-and-so said? And what such-and-such a group said? And what such-and-such a group said? Not in order to cure the disease and remove the discord; but to gloat,Or let him say as the children say: Are you with these or with those? We have not known this gathering and partisanship except among children.
Therefore, I advise you to finally abandon these matters; because it does not serve the benefit, but rather wastes time, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wasting wealth, and wasting time in gossip and excessive questioning.
