Discussion of what is prescribed for pilgrims to do after their Hajj, and urging them to fear Allah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for you, visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) and pilgrims to the House of Allah, in these days you are enjoying what Allah has bestowed upon you by performing the rites of Hajj and 'Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque. In these days, you have performed one of the five pillars of Islam, for those among you who had not performed Hajj before, or as a voluntary act that completes your obligatory acts. This is because of Allah’s mercy toward His servants and His profound wisdom that He prescribed for them voluntary acts to complete their obligatory ones. For no matter how perfect a person is, or how intense his love for good, he must inevitably fall short in his deeds. Therefore, voluntary acts complete the obligatory ones on the Day of Resurrection. O pilgrims to the House of Allah, visitors to the Messenger of Allah’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him), in these days you are bidding farewell to a Hijri year that is a witness against you, or a witness for you, regarding the deeds you have deposited. If it is good, then it is good; and if it is evil, then it is evil.
(7) So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, (8) And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it. فمن يعمل مثقال ذرة خير ومن يعمل مثقال ذرة شرا يره
[Az-Zalzalah 99:7-8]
. When a merchant completes his trade, he must review his account books to see what he has gained in profit or loss. Are we bidding farewell to this year? Are we looking at what we have earned and what we have done in this year that has passed? Many of us are overcome by heedlessness, and the days pass by them without them knowing what has been written for them and what has been written against them.
O my Muslim brothers, I advise you and myself to fear Allah the Mighty and Majestic, which is the command of Allah to the first and the last, as Allah the Exalted said:
And We have instructed those who were given the Scripture before you and yourselves to fear Allah ولقد وصينا الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم وإياكم أن اتقوا الله
[An-Nisa 4:131]
. And fearing Allah is not in the words that are spoken, but rather in beliefs, words, and deeds that save a person from the punishment of Allah and protect him from the Fire. So fearing Allah is that a person takes what protects him from the punishment of Allah by doing the commands of Allah and avoiding His prohibitions. This is the most comprehensive and inclusive of what has been said regarding the meaning of taqwa. Whoever neglects the prayer is not one who fears Allah. Whoever withholds the zakah is not one who fears Allah. Whoever is negligent in fasting is not one who fears Allah. Whoever is negligent in Hajj is not one who fears Allah. Whoever does not treat his parents with kindness is not one who fears Allah. Whoever does not maintain his family ties is not one who fears Allah. Whoever is not truthful in his buying and selling is not one who fears Allah. Whoever does not fulfill the duty of Allah upon him and the responsibility that Allah has placed upon him regarding his family in upbringing and guidance is not one who fears Allah. So taqwa encompasses the entire religion. For this reason, some of the scholars said in explaining taqwa: "That you make your obedience to Allah upon a light from Allah, hoping for the reward of Allah. That you do the obedience of Allah upon a light from Allah, hoping for the reward of Allah. And that you leave what Allah has forbidden upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah". We repeat it a second time: "Taqwa is that you do the obedience of Allah upon a light from Allah, hoping for the reward of Allah. And that you leave what Allah has forbidden upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah".
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : You have done well. That you do the obedience of Allah upon a light from Allah, hoping for the reward of Allah. And that you leave what Allah has forbidden upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah. And by this we know that the one who fears Allah must have knowledge of the Shari'ah. For whoever fears Allah without knowledge, his taqwa occurs by chance, not by intention. So knowledge is necessary. Knowledge is necessary before action. For this reason, al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) titled a chapter in his *Sahih* that clarifies this, saying: "Chapter on knowledge before speech and action". Then he cited the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women فاعلم أنه لا إله إلا الله واستغفر لذنبك وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات
[Muhammad 47:19]
.
And that you leave what Allah has forbidden upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah. You leave what Allah has forbidden from the great sins, whether apparent or hidden, and from sin and oppression without right, and from associating partners with Allah, upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah. For whoever falls into the disobedience of Allah has exposed himself to the punishment of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
