Warning Against Favoring One Wife Over the Other
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! Seven years ago, my father changed completely in his treatment of my mother, me, and my siblings. His behavior and dealings changed. Please note that this transformation has lasted for a long period of more than six years, and it did not happen until after he married another woman. It has been established with certainty that he is under the influence of sorcery, based on the signs and indicators of sorcery seen in his condition. What is your opinion on resolving this confusing problem that has turned the house into an unbearable hell? Is there a method or guidance for this man? May Allah reward you with good.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. This question deserves attention. It is that some people marry a new woman in addition to a first wife, they love her, then they are with her and forget the first one.And this is undoubtedly among the major sins: For a person to lean toward one of his two wives;Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Whoever has two wives and leans toward one of them will come on the Day of Resurrection with his side tilted) This is a severe warning; because all creation will testify to his punishment. This is a very great matter. So leaning toward one of the women -Meaning: toward one of the wives - is among the major sins, except for something one cannot control of love and what arises from it. A person cannot control this. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Nisa: 129] .
As for what he mentioned that it might be sorcery, this has unfortunately spread among many people today: the issue of sorcery, the issue of the evil eye, the issue of jinn. This is a mistake; because when a person feels this feeling, his soul panics and weakens, and Shaytan takes hold of him, and all thoughts revolve around this thing, until the imagination becomes reality. But if a person relies on Allah the Exalted and Majestic and puts his trust in Allah with true trust and becomes strong through Allah, it does not matter to him. He turns away from all of this and believes that these things happen to a person without these causes.
A person may experience tightness in the chest, a person may experience excessive fear, and a person may experience many things, until the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Indeed, my heart is sometimes seized, and I seek forgiveness from Allah seventy times a day, or more than seventy times) .
So my advice to my brothers: That they do not follow these illusions and imaginations. We do not deny that jinn can afflict a person, as Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 275] This is regarding usurers. And as the Sunnah came with that. But it does not mean that everything that befalls us is from the affliction of jinn.Even if we catch a cold and we say: This is a jinn that has possessed us. This is a mistake. It is obligatory for a person to have strength and trust in Allah, then use the supplications reported from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), such as reciting Ayat al-Kursi at night, and also reciting Surat al-Baqarah in the house, and the like. And he should seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan whenever he feels these things until they are removed from him.
Also, the evil eye. We do not deny that the evil eye has an effect. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (The evil eye is real, and if anything could precede destiny, the evil eye would precede it) But not everything a person suffers from is the evil eye. However, if he imagines something, then with much imagination and fancy, it becomes reality. For this reason, we advise our Muslim brothers to have complete reliance and trust in Allah the Exalted and Majestic until these illusions are removed from them. And consequently, I advise this man whom the questioner spoke about to fear Allah the Exalted and Majestic, and to try as much as he can to be just between his two wives, and to return to his children with tenderness, compassion, discipline, and guidance, and not to distance himself from them; because they are a part of him.
As for treatment and seeking medical care, I fear that I am advising treatment and seeking medical care means that I have confirmed his suspicion. It may not be sorcery. But if he is under the influence of sorcery as the questioner asserted; then he must treat himself with recitation and dhikr, or go to those who treat such matters among those whose religion and creed are trusted.
