The Ruling on Completing the Fasting for the Expiation of Killing After Ramadan

May Allah reward you, O our Shaykh: I have a relative who struck a young man with his vehicle, and the young man died. However, this relative was negligent in fasting the two months until he died. His sister volunteered to fast the two months on his behalf, but two days remained when the month of Ramadan began. How should she fast these two days?

I say: There is no blame on her—if Allah wills—if Ramadan begins and she has two days remaining, that she fasts them after Ramadan, on the second and third days of Shawwal.
