Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (As it was prescribed for those before you)]
And in His saying: [Surat al-Baqarah: 183] There are two benefits: The first benefit is the consolation of this Ummah,So that no one would say: so that no one asks: Why are we obligated to abstain from our desires for food, drink, and marriage, unlike the other nations? This serves as a form of consolation for the Ummah, indicating that it has not been burdened with what the nations before it were not burdened with.
And the second benefit: It also clarifies that this Ummah has completed the virtues that preceded it in the nations before. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the Seal of the Prophets, and he gave an example of his status with his brothers the messengers, likening it to a built-up palace that had been inhabited,So the people would circumambulate it and say: saying: How beautiful this palace is, except for the place of one brick. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the one who filled or closed the place of this brick, and with him the construction was completed. Thus, the legislations were completed—praise be to Allah—by this Islamic Shari'ah.
And in His saying:
as it was decreed upon those before you
كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْAnd the second benefit: It also clarifies that this Ummah has completed the virtues that preceded it in the nations before.
