Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Thus it was with those before them when a messenger came to them)

We are catching up on some of the verses, indeed all the verses that we forgot in the previous lesson, which is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."كَذَلِكَ مَا أَتَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
[Al-Dhariyat: 52] Meaning: The matter that happened to you, O Muhammad! happened to those before you,His saying: (Thus) is a predicate for a deleted subject, the estimation being: the matter is thus,Meaning: that the matter of the previous nations is like the matter of these who lied to you, O Muhammad! And He explained this lie by His saying:
there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."مَا أَتَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:52]
Meaning: No messenger came to them except that they said such, (and) in His saying: (from a messenger) is extra in terms of grammar in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warnerأَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا جَاءَنَا مِنْ بَشِيرٍ وَلا نَذِيرٍ
[Al-Ma'idah: 19] The meaning: No bringer of good news and no warner came to us, but letters are added in some sentences for emphasis.
So (no messenger came to those before them) meaning: No messenger came to them except that they described him with these two descriptions: (except that they said: a sorcerer or a madman) A sorcerer considering his effect, his eloquence, and his rhetoric;Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery) .
(Or a madman) meaning: Or they said a madman considering his actions; because this action, in the view of these deniers, is madness, we ask Allah for safety. And in this is consolation for the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him; because when a person knows that others have been afflicted with what afflicted him, he is consoled by that and the matter becomes light for him, and for this reason al-Khansa said, mourning her brother Sakhr, in a eulogy of hers:
And were it not for the multitude of mourners around me for their brothers, I would have killed myself
And they do not weep for one like my brother, but I console my soul against him by taking his example

And the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, indicates that:
And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.وَلَنْ يَنْفَعَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ إِذْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
[Al-Zukhruf: 39] Because when a person shares the punishment with others, it becomes light for him, but on the Day of Resurrection, it does not benefit a person that others share his punishment. The important thing is that in this phrase, regarding the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, there is consolation for him so that he does not grieve, for what afflicted him has afflicted others. And in it is also proof that the method of the deniers of the messengers is one, even if their times and regions are far apart, because the criminal is the brother of the criminal, so the method is one.
