Prescribed deeds after fasting in Ramadan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
To proceed: This is the seventy-fifth meeting after the hundredth of the Open Door meetings, which take place every Thursday of every week unless there is an obstacle, and this Thursday is the fifteenth of Shawwal, year 1418 AH.
We open our meetings with this after we have spent fasting and standing in prayer in the blessed month of Ramadan. We ask Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, to accept from us and from you, and to make that an expiation for our sins and an increase in our good deeds, and an elevation in our ranks. Indeed, He is capable of all things. And we ask Him, Blessed and Exalted is He, to return such months to us and to the Muslim community while we are at our strongest in faith and at our best in action. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
In this meeting, we will speak briefly about the lethargy of some people regarding righteous deeds when the month of Ramadan ends.
The truth is that the month of Ramadan is a season, and the habit in human nature in these seasons is to increase in activity, whether they are religious or worldly seasons. This is something people are created with and cannot be denied. But the important thing is that we do not return to sins after we have done what we ask Allah the Exalted to make an expiation for our sins. We should not return to them, because returning to sin after the erasure of sins is a severe matter. It is obligatory for Muslims in general, it is obligatory for them, to fear Allah the Exalted in themselves, and to perform what Allah has made obligatory upon them after Ramadan as they were performing it in Ramadan, and to leave what Allah has forbidden them after Ramadan as they were leaving it in Ramadan. This is the obligation, because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, made these seasons a stimulation of resolve and an encouragement to work, not that the work ends when they end.Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: [Al-Hijr: 99] meaning: until death comes to you,Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: [Indeed, Allah has not made for the believer a deed that ends before death,Then he recited this verse: [Al-Hijr: 99]].
