Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (a provision for the servants, and We thereby revived a dead land; such is the resurrection)
Allah the Exalted said: [Q:11] ,Meaning: We did that; We sent down water from the sky [Q:9-10] We did that [Q:11] meaning: a gift and a favor for the servants. The servants here include the believing servants and the disbelieving servants; because the disbeliever is a servant of Allah,As Allah the Exalted said: [Maryam:93] ,And what is meant here is: [This refers to] the cosmic, decreed servitude. As for the legislative servitude, one is not a servant of Allah except if he obeys His command, avoids His prohibition, and believes in His news.
Therefore: (for the servants) includes the disbelievers and the believers.
[Q:11] :- meaning: by the water that We sent down from the sky.
The town, although feminine in form, is masculine in meaning; therefore, it is valid to describe it with a masculine descriptor meaning: a dead land, which He revived with this water that came down from the sky. How is it revived? You find the land cold and desolate, with no vegetation in it. When Allah sends down rain, it bustles with vegetation, turns green, and flourishes. This is life after death.
[Q:11] ,Meaning: Such is the resurrection of people from their graves to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Allah the Exalted mentioned the resurrection because some of His servants denied it [Al-Taghabun:7] ,And their argument was that they said: [Ya-Sin:78] , How can the bones be revived when they are decayed and have become dust?! This is something they consider abhorrent and far-fetched; but Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) clarified that it is not far-fetched, and that just as they see the dead land, upon which rain descends and it comes to life, the One who is able to revive the land after its death by sending down rain is able to revive the dead after their death. This is a clear and obvious analogy.
Allah the Exalted said:
As provision for the servants.
رِزْقاً لِلْعِبَادِand made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest (10) And lofty palm trees
فَأَنْبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ * وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍAs provision for the servants.
رِزْقاً لِلْعِبَادِThere is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.
إِنْ كُلُّ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا آتِي الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْداًTherefore: (for the servants) includes the disbelievers and the believers.
