Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And the star when it goes down)
Here we return to the lesson, Allah the Exalted said: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful [Surat al-Najm: 1-2] (The star) is a generic term intended to mean all the stars,And his statement: (when it goes down) has two meanings: the first meaning is when it disappears,And the second meaning: when it goes down means: when a meteor falls from it upon the devils who eavesdrop: [An-Najm 53:2] This is the answer to the oath: [An-Najm 53:1] the thing by which the oath is sworn,The answer to the oath means: the thing upon which the oath is sworn: [An-Najm 53:2] (He has not gone astray) : meaning: he has not been ignorant, (nor has he erred) meaning: he has not been obstinate; because opposing the truth is either due to ignorance, or due to obstinacy,Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 256] So when ignorance is negated regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and obstinacy is negated regarding him, it becomes clear that his methodology (peace and blessings be upon him) is knowledge and guidance;Knowledge: the opposite of ignorance, which is going astray: [An-Najm 53:2] ,Guidance: the opposite of obstinacy: [Surat al-Baqarah: 256] So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his speech is truth, and his Shari'ah is truth; because it is based on knowledge and guidance,And his statement: (Your companion has not gone astray) addresses the Quraysh, he used this description to indicate that they know him, they know his lineage, they know his truthfulness, they know his trustworthiness,He is not a stranger to them so that they would say: We do not believe in him; because we do not know him, rather he is their companion who grew up among them, this is one matter.
Second: That if he is their companion, then the implication of companionship is that they should believe in him and support him, not that they should be his enemies,So in his saying: (Your companion) -so-Two benefits: The first benefit: that he is their companion whom they know, he is not unknown to them, and he is not a stranger to them, so how is it that yesterday they described him as trustworthy and now they describe him as a liar and a traitor?!! The second benefit: That the implication of companionship is that they should believe in him and support him, not that they should be against him,Meaning: He did not say: The Messenger of Allah has not gone astray,And he did not say: Muhammad has not gone astray,And he said: (Your companion has not gone astray) so the benefit from this is what we mentioned to you: that the implication of companionship is that they should know him, and the implication of companionship is that they should support him.
Here we return to the lesson, Allah the Exalted said: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(1) By the star when it descends, (2) Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,
By the star when it descends,
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,
There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong.
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed
The right course has become clear from the wrong
Second: That if he is their companion, then the implication of companionship is that they should believe in him and support him, not that they should be his enemies,So in his saying: (Your companion) -so-Two benefits: The first benefit: that he is their companion whom they know, he is not unknown to them, and he is not a stranger to them, so how is it that yesterday they described him as trustworthy and now they describe him as a liar and a traitor?!!
