The Ruling on Exaggeration in Wedding Feasts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Some guardians exaggerate in the wedding feast, which includes the largest number of relatives, and if he is asked to shorten the invitation,He said: some may take offense at us for not inviting them, so he exaggerates and goes to wedding halls and the like. How should such people be guided?
By Allah, there is no doubt that exaggeration in wedding feasts falls under the category of extravagance at times. Therefore, it is better to limit it to a feast that is not of that magnitude. For this reason, you find people in wedding feasts renting wedding palaces for eight thousand riyals or ten thousand riyals, and perhaps more. This burdens the husband and wife, and it is a waste of money. If people were to limit themselves to one feast, or as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf: "Give a feast, even if it is only a sheep," if they limited themselves to a sheep or two sheep and gathered the neighbors and relatives in the house as was the custom of the early generations, this would be better and more blessed. And it came in the hadith: "The most blessed of weddings is the one with the least expense."
