Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Its width is like the width of the heavens and the earth)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hadid: 21] And in Surat al-Imran: [Al-Imran: 133] There is no contradiction; because the first, "its width is like the width of the heavens," is a simile,And the second: "Its width is the heavens and the earth" is also a simile; but the experts of rhetoric call it a vivid simile.
[Al-Hadid 57:21] No one can. The heavens, in their vastness, the lowest heaven is very wide. What is the distance between it and the earth? It encompasses it. The second heaven is above it and is wider than it, and the third is wider, and so on, until you reach the Footstool, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the Footstool: (The seven heavens and the seven earths are in the Footstool like a ring thrown into a vast desert) The ring of the helmet is not the large ring of the door; it is the ring of the helmet, which is small. I mean the ring of the armor is very small. If you throw it into a vast desert, what is it compared to the desert? Nothing.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (And the excess of the Throne over the Footstool is like the excess of the vast desert over this ring) So who can comprehend the width of the heavens and the earth? No one can. Paradise, its width is like the width of the heavens and the earth,And therefore, the lowest of the people of Paradise in rank is: He who looks at His dominion, a distance of two thousand years, sees its farthest point as he sees its nearest point. Allah the Exalted only mentioned that its width is the width of the heavens and the earth so that we would strive to fill this earth—the earth of Paradise— And in the hadith, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): (Convey my greetings to your Ummah and inform them that Paradise is a vast plain and that its planting is: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, and Allahu Akbar) So strive, my brother, to fill what you deserve of this Paradise with the remembrance of Allah, the recitation of His Book, and other things that bring one closer to Allah.
For whom is this Paradise whose width is like the width of the heavens and the earth?
Allah the Exalted said:
like the width of the heavens and earth
كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِas wide as the heavens and earth
عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُlike the width of the heavens and earth
