The Virtue of the First Ten Days of Dhu al-Hijjah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
My Muslim brother! You are approaching the first ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged people to do righteous deeds in these ten days, saying: (There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days—Meaning: the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah -They said: nor jihad in the cause of Allah? He said: nor jihad in the cause of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his person and his wealth and returns with nothing) meaning: he was killed and the disbelievers took his wealth; this is better.
So you, my Muslim brother, must engage in abundant righteous deeds in these ten days, such as reciting the Qur'an, dhikr, charity, and fasting. I think you see what I see: people are heedless of the virtue of these days, to the point that you see these days passing by them without them doing anything, whereas people in the ten days of Ramadan increase in righteous deeds, and the mosques have reciters and callers, and they stand in prayer at night. But these people are heedless of it. So you, students of knowledge, must explain its virtue to the common people. The common people love good, but people may be heedless of reminding them, so you find that their deeds in these days are no different from their deeds before them. Urge them to righteous deeds, especially the takbir in these days: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd,Or you make it three: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd. Men recite it aloud in the mosques, markets, and homes, and women are pleased by it.
I ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to grant us all the ability to seize the times with righteous deeds, and to keep us and you away from the evil of character, deeds, and words. Indeed, He is capable of all things. And now, to the questions.
