The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, the Imam of the righteous, the intimate friend of the Lord of the worlds, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows: You have heard the words of our brother, the Shaykh Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sayyig, that this lecture is a substitute for the monthly gathering that was decided upon, and all praise is due to Allah, in this year. Both the lecture and the gathering are of great benefit, because, if Allah wills, many of the servants of Allah attend them. They come to this place seeking knowledge. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2699a The paths by which knowledge is sought are paths for those who walk on their feet, and paths for those who walk with their hearts. As for the first, it is clear that a person walks in the markets to a place of knowledge, in the mosques or in the schools or elsewhere. As for the second, it is that a person walks the path of knowledge by reading the beneficial books written by those whose knowledge and religion are trusted, such as the books of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, the Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, and other meticulous scholars of knowledge. All of these are paths in which knowledge is sought. And this is good news that whoever walks a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. And we, O brothers, in these days, and tonight is the twenty-fifth of the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah of the year one thousand and forty-three, are approaching a great season, a great season, which is the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, about which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 1460, Mishkat al-Masabih 1460, meaning even the ten days of Ramadan. Righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are more beloved to Allah than righteous deeds in the last ten days of Ramadan, because the hadith is general and "days" is an indefinite noun in the context of negation, confirmed by "man" (no one), so it indicates absolute generality. That is, there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days. And who is the one who said this? The Messenger of Allah, the most knowledgeable of creation regarding the Shari'ah of Allah, the most knowledgeable of creation regarding Allah, and the most knowledgeable of creation regarding what Allah loves. So do not be surprised if you hear someone say: Righteous deeds in Dhu al-Hijjah are better than righteous deeds in the ten days of Ramadan. Do not be surprised, because this has evidence from the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And this statement that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made does not want us to understand that righteous deeds in these ten days are more beloved to Allah than in other times, but rather he wants us to understand and act, to understand and act. We should increase righteous deeds in the first ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Righteous deeds are varied: Qur'an, dhikr, tasbih, tahmid, takbir, enjoining good, forbidding evil, prayer, charity, being dutiful to parents, maintaining family ties. Righteous deeds are innumerable. If you give charity of one dirham in these ten days and give charity of one dirham in the ten days of Ramadan, which is more beloved to Allah? These ten days, the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah. Charity in them is more beloved to Allah than charity in the ten days of Ramadan: Sunan Ibn Majah 1727Sahih (Darussalam) And jihad is the peak of Islam. He said: Sahih al-Bukhari 2548 except in one case Sunan Ibn Majah 1727Sahih (Darussalam), a man who goes out with his person and his wealth with which he fights, such as a horse and a saddle, and he is killed so he does not return with his person, and his horse is killed so he does not return with his horse, and his wealth is taken so he does not return with his wealth. This is the one who is better than righteous deeds in the first ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. And other than that, righteous deeds in them are more beloved to Allah than at any other time. So righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than at any other time.
