Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (O you who believe, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger)

We return to the lesson in exegesis. Allah Mighty and Majestic says:
O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercyيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ
[Al-Hadid: 28]
O you who have believedيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
[Al-Baqarah 2:104]
The intended meaning is this Ummah.

So His saying:
fear Allah and believe in His Messengerاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ
[Al-Hadid 57:28]
Meaning: remain steadfast in faith, do not renew your faith,Because faith has already been established where He said:
O you who have believedيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
[Al-Baqarah 2:104]
So the meaning is: O you who believe with your hearts! Fear Allah with your limbs!
And believe in His Messengerوَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ
That is: realize faith and remain steadfast upon it, for not everyone who believes is truly a believer,And this is what the scholars mean by their saying: This is a negation of the perfection of faith,Such as their saying: (None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself) The intended meaning is not the negation of faith in its absolute sense, but the negation of complete faith.

And some of the exegetes have claimed: That this verse is about the People of the Book,Because he said:
And believe in His Messengerوَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ
But this is a very weak opinion, and it is impossible that Allah Mighty and Majestic would ever address the People of the Book, who are disbelievers, with the description of faith,Meaning: It is impossible that the intended meaning of His saying: O you who believe, is that it refers to the Jews and the Christians, because when the Qur'an was revealed, if they remained upon their Judaism and Christianity, they were not believers.
fear Allah and believe in His Messengerاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ
[Al-Hadid 57:28]
And the intended meaning of His Messenger here is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and belief in the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) includes belief in all the messengers,As Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers."
[Al-Baqarah: 285] Meaning, in belief in them, not in following them. In following, we distinguish between the messengers. Whom do we follow? Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). But belief in them is all on the same level; we believe that they are truly the messengers of Allah.
