The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "And believe in what has been revealed to Muhammad, and it is the truth from their Lord."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, Allah the Mighty and Majestic says:
And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad والذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وآمنوا بما نزّل على محمّد
[Muhammad 47:2]
what بما
"what" This is a relative pronoun that encompasses what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) from the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Allah the Exalted said:
and it is the truth from their Lord وهو الحق من ربهم
[Muhammad 47:2]
This phrase indicates that what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought is the truth, whether it is a demand or a report. Listen, my brother: what the Messenger brought is the truth, whether it is a demand or a report. So then, we ask: What is our position regarding the demand, and what is our position regarding the report? Does anyone know? Yes?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, what is our position regarding the demand? What should we be toward the demand?
The student: Obedience.

The Shaykh : Perfect. Our position regarding the demand is obedience: we say, "We hear and we obey," and we execute it. If it is a command, we do it; if it is a prohibition, we leave it. What is our position regarding the report?
The student: Belief.

The Shaykh : Belief. Perfect. We say, "We believe, we accept, and we believe in it." This is the faith in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
