The reason the Shaykh pointed out that it is not prescribed to single out the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan for performing 'Umrah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I pointed this out, my brothers, for two reasons. The first is that we should not believe that something is prescribed (mashru') if the Sunnah has not come with it. The second is that people should not crowd together on this night. This great crowding is such that it is as if people are in the season of Hajj, due to the hardship and severe fatigue that result from it, and the mixing of women with men, and the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). So I wish from you, my brothers, may Allah bless us all, that we spread this matter among the people and say: there is no need to single out the twenty-seventh night for 'Umrah. Perform 'Umrah throughout the month,

the first night and the last night, just like the nights in between, and there is no difference. And Allah is the Helper, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad. And now to the questions.
