The preacher raising his hands while on the pulpit during supplication

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19610 )
Q: It is reported in (Sahih al-Bukhari ) from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
A Bedouin entered on Friday while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon, and he said: O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has perished and the children are hungry, so supplicate to Allah for us. He raised his hands and supplicated, and clouds rose like mountains. He did not descend from the pulpit until I saw the rain pouring down on his beard.
, and Muslim and Ahmad
From Husayn, who said: I was next to 'Amarah ibn Ru'aybah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Bashir ibn Marwan was delivering the sermon to us. When he supplicated, he raised his hands, and 'Amarah said: May Allah disfigure these two hands. I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not doing more than saying with his hand like this, and he pointed with his ring finger.
In the first hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands, and in the second hadith, the noble Companion 'Amarah rebuked Bashir ibn Marwan for raising his hands. How do you reconcile and combine these two hadiths? Please inform us, may Allah illuminate your insight and increase you and us in knowledge?

A: The principle is that it is not prescribed for the preacher to raise his hands while on the pulpit during supplication, except in the supplication for rain; as for anything else, there is no basis for it. This is because raising the hands during supplication is an act of worship, and it is not valid except by explicit instruction. It is not established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands during his supplication in the Friday sermon, except if it was a supplication for rain. Therefore, this Companion rebuked Bashir ibn Marwan for raising his hands during his supplication in the Friday sermon, which was not a supplication for rain,
and thus the reconciliation and combination of the two mentioned hadiths is achieved. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
