The Shaykh's remarks on the ailment that has afflicted the Ummah, as mentioned in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He leaves to misguide, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. As for what follows: The best of speech is the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation (bid'ah), and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
On this blessed day, if Allah wills, our esteemed Shaykh, Nasir al-Din al-Albani, is appearing to us by the grace of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon us, if Allah wills. I will not be long, for we all know him... We read many of your books in Kuwait, and the people of Kuwait do so, and this is from the favor of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and from the favor of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon you. We ask of him, if Allah wills, and this is the request of children to their father, namely a sermon to fear Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)... a few minutes or a quarter of an hour, as the Shaykh has been kind... a full hour, as he has been kind to us. After that, anyone who has a question or anything else, if Allah wills, the honorable Shaykh may please speak. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He leaves to misguide, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
,
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
,
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
, As for what follows:
The best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). The worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation (bid'ah), and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
And after that, Imam Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan, and Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, and others, with two chains of narration, one strengthening the other, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:
When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. In this authentic hadith, there is an explanation of the treatment and medicine for what has befallen the Muslims: the humiliation that has dominated them all, except for a few individuals among them who still hold fast to the firm rope that has no break. The Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) explained in this hadith the disease that, when it befalls the Muslims, Allah humiliates them. Then He described for them the medicine for escaping this ailment. He said (peace and blessings be upon him) at the beginning of this hadith:
When you trade with 'inah
. As for 'inah, I do not wish to speak of it except briefly. It is a sale among the usurious sales (riba) with which many people have been afflicted in the present age. The Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) mentioned it by way of example, not by way of specification, of what Muslims engage in, for which and because of which they deserve that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) should humble them. He mentioned some examples at the beginning of this hadith, the first of which is the sale of 'inah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) followed that by saying:
hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. This is an allusion to the Muslims' rushing to gather worldly things and their concern with its adornments, which diverts them from performing many of the obligatory religious duties. He gave one example of this as well, saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the completion of the hadith:
Narrated AbuUmamah: A man said: Messenger of Allah, allow tourism for me. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The tourism of my people is striving in the path of Allah, the Exalted.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2486Hasan (Al-Albani)
,
When you trade with 'inah
, meaning you engaged in forbidden transactions, including 'inah.
hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
, meaning: you turned away from performing your religious obligations to concern yourselves with worldly matters and earning money by any means, and this led you to abandon jihad in the path of Allah. What will be the punishment for this Ummah when it clings to these matters, of which our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) has not prescribed anything? He said (peace and blessings be upon him) by way of warning:
Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. This humiliation imposed upon the Muslims is a matter not hidden from anyone with eyes, and the matter does not need much explanation. It is sufficient for us to recall what befell the Muslims with the occupation of Palestine by the Jews, let alone the other Islamic lands where trials continue to follow one another, and where non-Muslim rulers, or Muslim rulers who are merely geographical, continue to commit corruption therein. All of this is humiliation that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has imposed upon the Muslims, and it is not injustice from Him, may He be free of that. For our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) does not wrong people in anything, but people themselves wrong themselves. Our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) says:
For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them
[An-Nisa 4:160]
. So when Allah (Mighty and Majestic) imposed this humiliation upon us, it was due to our wrongdoing. And this wrongdoing is clear in many matters, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) gave these three examples: trading in what Allah has forbidden, rushing to the debris of this world, and abandoning jihad in the path of Allah. We have deserved that Allah should impose upon us that pervasive humiliation, embodied in our beloved land, Palestine. If this is the humiliation, what is the escape from it and the salvation? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), whom our Lord described in the Qur'an with truth when He said:
to the believers is kind and merciful.
[At-Tawbah 9:128]
, said (peace be upon him) in the completion of the hadith:
He will not remove it from you.
,
Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. This is the treatment, which the Messenger (peace be upon him) described clearly and explicitly at the end of this hadith, where he said:
until you return to your original religion
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And when I narrate this hadith to you and add some of these comments to it, in reality, I am not bringing anything new, for all Muslims, despite their differences in creed and in branches, as they say, are all agreed that the cause of the humiliation that has settled upon the Muslims is their abandonment of their religion. And they all say: the treatment is returning to the religion. This is all a matter known to them all.
