The Shaykh’s mention of the hadith narrated by Abu Dawud, which is authentic by other means, namely: “When you engage in the buy-back sale (‘inah), take the tails of cows, and are content with agriculture, and abandon jihad in the path of Allah…”

The Shaykh : That hadith is what Imam Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan, and others, with a chain that is strengthened by other chains in the terminology of hadith scholars, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion. إذا تبايعتم بالعينة وأخذتم أذناب البقر ورضيتم بالزرع وتركتم الجهاد في سبيل الله سلّط الله عليكم ذلّا لا ينزعه عنكم حتى ترجعوا إلى دينكم
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is a very great hadith because it applies to us, the Muslims, today, with the most severe regret, in its entirety. It mentions the disease that, if it afflicts the Muslims, they will receive the just punishment from Allah, which is that He will send down upon them a humiliation. And in contrast to this disease, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the cure, and that is in a concise word, namely his saying (peace be upon him):
until you return to your original religion حتى ترجعوا إلى دينكم
Sunan Abi Dawud 3462Sahih (Al-Albani)
