The questioner : He said: You mentioned the statement of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand. وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ
[An-Nisa 4:34]
Does this mean that he leaves her alone away from the bed, or that he leaves her alone on the bed, sleeping with her but not talking to her and leaving her alone regarding intercourse? I hope for clarification.

The Shaykh : The verse is general and includes the case where he sleeps with her in the bed but does not talk to her or take pleasure in her, or the case where he sleeps in another place. We mentioned the latter, saying that he sleeps in another place, in another room, outside the house. The important thing is that he sees what is closer to reforming her.
