A man has a fracture in his hand and a cast on it, and sometimes he is in a state of major ritual impurity, so he fears using water and performs dry ablution for several days. Is there any sin on him for that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: “May the Shaykh be guided. I have a fracture in my hand, and there is a cast on this fracture. Sometimes I am in a state of major ritual impurity, and I fear that using water will affect the cast, so I perform dry ablution for several days. Is there any sin on me for that? May Allah guide you.”

The Shaykh : Yes, there is sin on you, because it is obligatory for one who has a cast on his hand to wash his entire body except the place of the cast, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are able فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can. إذا أمرتكم بأمر فأتوا منه ما استطعتم
Sahih al-Bukhari 7288
He must wash the rest of his body, but he is not required to wash the cast itself, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
But what does he do? He performs dry ablution in place of washing it, and when it heals, he performs the full ritual bath. Yes.
