Is the hadith regarding wiping over a bandage authentic, and if it is weak, what does the person with the bandage do?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is the hadith regarding wiping over a bandage authentic or not, and if it is weak, what does the person with the bandage do?

The Shaykh : The hadith regarding wiping over a bandage is not authentic. As long as that is the case, he does what he is able of what Allah has commanded him. If there is a limb that has been bandaged for a wound, a fracture, or the like, he washes all the limbs that are obligatory to wash or purify in the ablution, and what is beyond that is excused. The man who has lost a limb from the limbs of the ablution—Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. However, if wiping over the bandage were authentic, it would be necessary to follow that; otherwise, it is not.
