Three men, each of whom bought a sacrificial animal, said: “We will offer one sheep as a sacrifice, give one sheep in charity, and eat one sheep. In this way, we will have eaten one-third, given one-third in charity, and offered one-third as a sacrifice.”

The questioner : He said: Three men, each of whom bought a sacrificial animal, said: “We will offer one sheep as a sacrifice, give one sheep in charity, and eat one sheep. In this way, we will have eaten one-third, given one-third in charity, and offered one-third as a sacrifice. What is your opinion on this?”

The Shaykh : My opinion is that this is incorrect, because the one-third must be shared, and a person must give in charity something from what he offered as a sacrifice. In the example mentioned by the questioner, what about the third sheep? Nothing was offered from it, and nothing was given in charity from it; it was all eaten. The correct way is to take a little from this sheep, a little from that one, and a little from the other, and then eat. Yes.
