It was reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to place his hands on the ground when rising for prayer. So, does one place the hands first or the knees when rising in prayer?

The questioner : It was reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to place his hands on the ground when rising in prayer. So, does one place the hands first or the knees when rising in prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes. This placing of the hands on the ground, which was reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) when rising from prostration, is accompanied by the sitting that occurs after rising, as in the hadith of Malik ibn al-Huwayrith:
He sits, then places his hands on the ground, and then rises. يجلس ثم يعتمد على الأرض ويقوم
.
And does he place his hands in a normal way, for example on the palms, or does he place them by clasping his hands like a kneader?
There is a hadith with this wording, "like a kneader," but al-Nawawi graded it as weak.
