The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : A man prayed in his mosque, then went to another mosque to pray over a funeral, but found them praying the obligatory prayer, so he joined them with the intention of a voluntary prayer, having caught up with them for two units and then concluded the prayer. What is the ruling?

The Shaykh : Yes. It appears, if Allah wills, that there is nothing wrong with it, because he only attended for the sake of praying over the funeral, and volunteering two units is permissible. However, if he knows that he can make up the two units, he should make them up, meaning the two units that he missed.
On this occasion, I would like to remind my brother imams that if there is a funeral in the mosque and most of the attendees are making up what they missed, and the number of those making up is large, then it is better to wait until they complete their prayers so that they can join their brothers in, in praying over the deceased.
First: they may have attended for what? For praying over the deceased.
Second: doing so increases the number of people praying over the deceased.
Third: it may be that the prayer is not accepted for any of these people except for one of those who are making up. You do not know.
As for the fact that some people now, from the moment the imam concludes the prayer, rush to the funeral, and there may be two rows, two rows of six, making up. This is not correct. Wait. And if the scholars say: it is recommended to hasten. There is no doubt about this, that hastening is better. But it is not that there is a difference, meaning a difference of five minutes, for example. What harm is there?
Yes.
