The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And the sky with its return * And the earth with its splitting...))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
(11) By the sky which returns [rain] (12) And [by] the earth which cracks open,
[At-Tariq 86:11-12]
. What is the purpose of the "waw" (and) here? Answer, everyone? The "waw" is for the oath. Just as He said at the beginning of the surah:
And the sky and the night star
. It is for the oath. Allah swore by the sky a second time, and described it as having a return: meaning it has rain, because rain brings the earth back to life after what? After its death. So the sky sends down rain from it. And it brings the earth back to life after it was dead.
And [by] the earth which cracks open,
[At-Tariq 86:12]
And [by] the earth which cracks open,
[At-Tariq 86:12]
: meaning the one with the splitting. And the splitting is the cracking, because when rain falls on the earth, it cracks with vegetation, it cracks with vegetation. Rain falls and the earth emerges. It cracks. Yes.
(12) And [by] the earth which cracks open, (13) Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,
[At-Tariq 86:12-13]
.
Indeed, he إنه
: meaning the Qur'an.
A decisive word
: meaning it distinguishes between the truth and falsehood, between the believer and the disbeliever, and between the fighting Muslims and their enemies. For it distinguishes, a distinction. There is no jest in it, and no mockery. It is not a jest. Rather, it is a decisive word. For this reason He said:
And it is not amusement.
[At-Tariq 86:14]
, in contrast to the disbelievers who said:
This is not but legends of the former peoples." إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولين
[Al-An'am 6:25]
.
