The detailed ruling on the issue of receiving injections in Ramadan.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : A man needs an injection because he is sick, and the doctors said: there is no choice but the injection, and he is fasting. So, is it permissible for them to do that, or not? The answer: It is permissible for them to do that, and he receives the injection, whether in the muscles or in the vein, and whether he tastes it in his throat or not, because the injection is not eating or drinking, nor is it the equivalent of eating and drinking. The original ruling is that this fast is valid, and it is not permissible for us to invalidate the worship of Allah’s servants except with proof from Allah. A man is engaged in the worship of Allah, and we come and say: By Allah, your worship is invalid. It is forbidden for us except for what? With clear proof. Yes. If it were assumed that he received injections that replace food and drink, and a person is nourished by them, then we say: this breaks the fast, but he generally does not need them except for illness. And we say: he fasted for what? For the sake of the illness. The matter is broad, and praise be to Allah. Among those who do this are those who suffer from kidney failure and need injections that draw out the blood, clean it, and then return it. We say to these people: break your fast, and the matter is broad. Break your fast and undergo this procedure. If the illness is continuous and its cure is not expected, feed one poor person for every day. If its cure is expected, wait until Allah heals you, and then make up the missed days, due to the saying of the Exalted:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days وَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضاً أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
