Dreaming of Seeing a Wrongful Matter

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 5802 ):
Q2: One of the sheikhs told me that our deceased Shaykh came to his father in a dream, along with another man, and said to his father: Build me a shrine—a maqam—so he did, and found his body intact. It is well known that these shrines are places of visitation for people, and they expose them to shirk (associating partners with Allah), as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said, for people circumambulate them and seek nearness to Allah through them. Some of the Sufis also told me that if a Shaykh dies and no karamah (miracle) appears, he comes to one of the prominent people and orders him to build a shrine, which is not permissible in the Shari'ah, as the
Salaf said. So, is it the Shaykh or Shaytan who comes in the dream, and should the words be believed and what was ordered be done?
A2: This is not a true dream (ru'ya), but rather a vision (hulm), and a vision is from Shaytan, because it contradicts the Shari'ah. Building over graves and erecting domes on them is among the major sins and a means to shirk (associating partners with Allah). It is established from Abu al-Hayyaj that he said: Ali said to me: narrated by Muslim . Therefore, one must act in accordance with what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is forbidden to act on this vision and the like of it. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
