What is the ruling on a man wearing gold if he is in the process of proposing to a woman?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling in Islam, in your view, regarding a man wearing gold if he is in the state of proposing to a woman?

The Shaykh : A man wearing gold is forbidden, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding gold and silk:
They are lawful for the females of my Ummah, and forbidden for the males. إنهما حلال لإناث أمتي، حرام على ذكورها
He saw a man wearing a gold ring, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it from his hand and threw it away, and said:
One of you is wishing live coal from Hell. and putting it on his hand. يعمد أحدكم إلى جمرة من نار فيضعها في يده
Sahih Muslim 2090
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left, it was said to the man: "Take your ring and benefit from it." He said, "By Allah, I will not take a ring that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away." The man left it; he left his ring. It is not permissible for a man to wear a gold ring, nor gold clothing, nor a gold necklace, whether he wears it permanently or for the occasion of proposing to a woman or for any other reason. A man is a man by his manliness, not by what he adorns himself with. It is the woman who needs adornment, as Allah the Exalted said:
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allah]? أَوَمَنْ يُنَشَّأُ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ
[Az-Zukhruf 43:18]
after He said:
(17) And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. (18) So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allah]?
[Az-Zukhruf 43:17-18]
meaning that these two are not equal. My advice to my Muslim brothers is to refrain from wearing gold, whether for an occasion or not. Whoever has any of it should sell it to women who wear it, or give it to his family, such as his wife or a female relative. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
