A detailed explanation of the 'Aqiqah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the 'Aqiqah that we referred to at the beginning of the discussion, it is the sacrificial animal slaughtered for the newborn: two for a boy, if they are available, otherwise one is sufficient, and one for a girl. It is slaughtered on the seventh day. The scholars said that if that is not possible, then on the fourteenth day; if that is not possible, then on the twenty-first day; if that is not possible, then on any day after the twenty-first. However, there is no doubt that the best is for it to be on the seventh day, and it is recommended for a person to strive to have it on the seventh day after birth. For example, if a child is born on a Wednesday, the 'Aqiqah is on the following Tuesday; if born on a Tuesday, it is on the following Monday; if born on a Monday, it is on the following Sunday; if born on a Sunday, it is on the following Saturday; if born on a Saturday, it is on the following Friday; if born on a Friday, it is on the following Thursday; if born on a Thursday, it is on the following Wednesday; and if born on a Wednesday, it is on the following Tuesday. That is, it takes place in the second week, on the day before the day of birth. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may He exalt Him.
