Is it permissible to recite Surat al-Fatihah in a condolence?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a listener to the program from Irbid, Iraq. He says: "From Iraq, he says in this question: Is it permissible to recite Surat al-Fatihah in a condolence?"

The Shaykh : Yes. Reciting Surat al-Fatihah in a condolence is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis. It should be known that the meaning of a condolence is strengthening, that is, strengthening the bereaved person to be patient. If a person is struck by a calamity, such as the death of a relative or friend, the loss of wealth, or any other calamity, and you see that he is affected, then you should offer him condolences, meaning you should strengthen him to bear patience with this calamity in a manner appropriate to the situation. There are no specific words prescribed for condolences, but this is done according to the situation. Among the best things with which to offer condolences is what came from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), where he sent a message to one of his daughters and said:
Tell her to be patient and seek reward, for Allah has taken what He took and kept what He kept, and everything with Him is by a specified term. مرها فلتصبر ولتحتسب فإن لله ما أخذ وله ما أبقى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى
This was because one of his daughters had a child, a boy or a girl, and she sent a messenger to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asking him to attend. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the messenger who came to him:
Tell her to be patient and seek reward, for Allah has taken what He took and kept what He kept, and everything with Him is by a specified term. مرها فلتصبر ولتحتسب فإن لله ما أخذ وله ما أبقى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى
.
As for adhering to a specific formula, namely saying, "May Allah magnify your reward, improve your consolation, and forgive your deceased," this has no basis. Yes.
