Is it permissible for a layperson to go out with the men of da'wah?

The questioner : Regarding the going out of the common people with the men of da'wah, is it permissible for a layperson to go out with the men of da'wah?

The Shaykh : No, it is not permissible, except if the one going out is a jurist in the Book and the Sunnah, and they allow him to call to the Book and the Sunnah. Then he goes out as a caller to them, while they are calling people to prayer, zakah, and good Islamic morals, and so on. And you call them to the Book and the Sunnah, if they allow you and you are knowledgeable of the Book and the Sunnah. Otherwise, you will suffer what the resident in the land of disbelief suffers. You are residing in a non-Sunni community; you are residing in an innovating community. If you are knowledgeable of the Book and the Sunnah and you try to reform them, then it is obligatory for you to go out with them. But alas, alas, that they would allow you.
